At Life Green Group, growing green talent means supporting young people eager to build a greener future. Brandon Masemola is a perfect example. He started as a WIL (Work Integrated Learning) student from Tshwane University of Technology. Today, he works as an Assistant to the Area Managers at our Life Landscapes Johannesburg MTC branch.
Starting Strong with Hands-On Learning
Firstly, Brandon joined Life Green Group on 1 August 2024 at Waterfall Hills Estate. At first, he felt eager but unsure. However, his team leaders quickly gave him hands-on training in irrigation, mowing, planting, and landscaping. These tasks helped him see how every small job contributes to beautiful, sustainable spaces. Moreover, he learned the importance of teamwork and paying attention to detail.
Growing into Leadership
Then, after completing his WIL placement, Brandon accepted an internship at Johannesburg MTC. Now, he assists Area Managers with planning, logistics, and team coordination. He enjoys balancing time in the field with office work. As Brandon says, “I’m always learning, always moving, and always part of something meaningful.” Furthermore, this role has broadened his understanding of leadership and personal growth.
Achieving Milestones and Setting Goals
Next, Brandon recently graduated in Landscape Technology from Tshwane University of Technology. This achievement marks a major milestone. Since then, he has gained confidence in communication, planning, and problem-solving. Additionally, he overcame fears about stepping into new roles and now welcomes challenges with a positive mindset.
Youth Month: A Time to Celebrate and Inspire
For Brandon, Youth Month means recognizing the energy and power young people bring. It provides space for youth to lead, learn, and innovate. Especially in the green industry, fresh ideas and passion are crucial. Looking ahead, Brandon aspires to become an Area Manager who leads with knowledge and heart. He wants to promote sustainability and mentor others, just like he was mentored. He lives by Zig Ziglar’s words: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
