From Gardener to Technician

Mechanical growth isn’t just about machines. It’s about progress, determination, and the courage to step into something new. Rems Mohale began his journey in 2015 when he joined Life Green Group as a gardener at the Waterfall site.

Although it was an entry-level role, he brought passion and a strong work ethic. Within a few months, his drive stood out. He was promoted and soon started helping with machine repairs—putting his mechanical skills to use.

Stepping Into a New Role

As he continued to grow, Rems was offered the chance to support technical teams. He began repairing equipment and learning more about maintenance on the job.

In 2017, he moved to the company’s Johannesburg branch to join the main workshop. This was a big step. It gave him hands-on experience with more advanced tools and repairs. He also worked across different sites and projects, solving problems and building confidence.

Leading With Skill and Purpose

By 2023, Rems had earned the title of Lead Mechanical Technician. Today, he manages the workshop and handles machine repairs across several regions. Even when faced with new tasks—like fixing ride-on machines for the first time—he rose to the challenge.

“I took it as an opportunity to grow,” says Rems. “Each new task helps me improve.”

Investing in His Growth

Last year, he asked for support to continue his education in mechanical repair. The company said yes. With their backing, he started learning more and expanding his skills.

Rems says, “I’ve always believed in showing up and doing my best. When you stay committed, growth follows.”

A Message to Young People

His story is proof that growth is possible—no matter where you start. With focus, effort, and support, anyone can build a meaningful career.

“Don’t wait for perfect conditions,” says Rems. “Start with what you have and grow from there.”
