From Mowing Lawns to Managing Teams
Paulina’s journey began five years ago at Kyalami Estate, where she started with basic tasks such as mowing and operating a blower. Often the only woman among a team of more than 40 men, she remained focused and driven. Her commitment didn’t go unnoticed—she eagerly stepped up to assist her manager, eventually earning a promotion to Team Leader.
In that role, Paulina honed new skills like writing reports, communicating via email, and solving client problems—tools that would become key in her career progression.
Climbing the Ladder with Purpose
Paulina’s dedication and leadership led to her promotion as Supervisor. In June last year, she moved from Johannesburg to Pretoria as a Roaming Supervisor, covering sites for three months. Shortly after, she was promoted again—this time to Area Manager.
Her growth reflects her belief in learning through experience, even without formal studies in landscaping. She hopes to pursue formal training soon and continue sharpening her knowledge in the field.
Passion and Planning in Every Project
What Paulina enjoys most about landscaping is the blend of creativity and structure. The role demands thoughtful planning, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt when working with diverse teams and clients.
While not every day is easy, she finds fulfilment in every challenge. “It’s important not to take things personally,” she shares. “Staying passionate and respectful, especially when engaging with different personalities, keeps me grounded.”

Paulina’s leadership style is deeply rooted in her core values—empowerment and unity. She believes in uplifting others, working collaboratively, and staying open to guidance. She credits much of her success to the support of senior colleagues who helped ease her path.
